WAM PROJECT OFFICER
BACKGROUND:
AHEAD is an independent non-profit organisation working to create
inclusive environments in education and employment for people with
disabilities. The main focus of its work is further education and
training, higher education and graduate employment.
AHEAD provides information to students and graduates with
disabilities, teachers, guidance counsellors and parents on disability
issues in education. It undertakes national research relating to the
inclusion of students with disabilities, contribute to national policy
forums and provide professional development opportunities to develop
the capacity of staff in FET and higher education to be more
inclusive.
Willing Able Mentoring (WAM) is a work placement programme run by
AHEAD which aims to promote access to the labour market for graduates
with disabilities and build the capacity of employers to integrate
disability into the mainstream workplace. This is done through
encouraging employers to create internships for graduates with
disabilities and facilitating the placement of those graduates.
AHEAD is now recruiting a WAM PROJECT OFFICER to join its team.
THE ROLE:
The WAM Project Officer will participate in a diverse range of
activities including engaging with students and graduates with
disabilities, supporting employers in the recruitment for WAM
placements by carrying out workplace needs assessments of graduates
with disabilities, organising employer training events both on and
offline, and contributing to and developing best practice guidelines
for inclusive recruitment.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, good at planning,
and working as part of a team as well as on their own initiative and
have the ability to communicate messages effectively in a variety of
contexts. You should have good IT skills including database management
(Excel), word processing and associated report formatting, and,
ideally, knowledge of content management systems such as Mailchimp and
WordPress.
